I wait
Soft and tender
sweet like kisses
so lovely
Long and violent
also quite nice
Rain
April was National Poetry month. Very little rain fell then. In fact April 2013 was the third driest on record. Gardens suffered. Starlings, robins, stray cats and squirrels appeared the moment I brought the hose out. They especially liked the fine water squirting from the faulty connection between hoses. Today the grass is happy.
April Rain Song
Langston Hughes
Let the rain kiss you.
Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops.
Let the rain sing you a lullaby.
The rain makes still pools on the sidewalk.
The rain makes running pools in the gutter.
The rain plays a little sleep-song on our roof at night—
And I love the rain.
